Variety. High-energy dance sets are this band’s trademark. Repertoire ranges from r&b, funk, jazz, rock, and reggae to Latin, pop, soul, Top 40, big band swing, and ethnic songs.

Configuration

7 pieces. Male lead and female lead vocalists, saxophone, guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, and sound engineer. Flipside can add horns a la carte or by 3 piece section.

At a Glance

The best rhythm section in Boston. Period. They are masters of all styles of music, but when it comes to laying down the Funk…nobody does it better. Members of this group have performed throughout the world with such high profile artists as Rick James, Lauryn Hill, Roberta Flack, the Wu Tang Clan, Jimmy Cliff, Brian McKnight, Maceo Parker, T-Bone Burnett, and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Members have also performed on the Tonight Show, MTV, Saturday Night Live and Conan O’Brien.

Track Record

Flipside has been featured in a front page spread of The Living Art section of The Boston Globe as “The Toast of the Town” and have performed live on Fox-25 Morning News. Flipside has performed at weddings for high profile clients, including Boston Celtics All-Star Ray Allen, Jack Welch (CEO of General Electric) & Suzy Wetlaufer, and Elizabeth (The View / Survivor) & Tim (NFL quarterback) Hasselbeck, Tom Finneran (MA speaker of the house). They are one of the only groups to perform live on the field at Boston’s Fenway Park with members of the Red Sox and their wives. They were also the band of choice for fundraisers such as The Steppingstone Foundation‘s “Steppin’ out” gala, a Beacon Hill Civic Association Gala, American Heart Association’s “Heartball” with President Bill Clinton, a launch party for Boston Common Magazine, Boston Ballet’s 50th Anniversary Gala, Governor Deval Patrick’s 50th Birthday celebration (featuring cellist Yo Yo Ma) as well as TWO of his inaugural balls.

Flipside specializes in a large variety of songs and styles.  Their primary focus leans towards Motown/Soul, Funk, and Rock.  Some defining repertoire that is currently part of their sets: DJ Got Us Falling in Love (Usher) California Gurls (Katy Perry), Everything (Michael Buble), Rolling in the Deep (Adele), Just Dance (Lady Gaga), Let’s Stay Together (Al Green) Don’t Stop Believing (Journey), Superstition (Stevie Wonder ) and many vintage Michael Jackson hits.

Everyone when planning a wedding stresses about all of the little things like place cards & flowers. In the end, there is only one thing that matters or anyone cares about...the band. Flipside is the best band that you could possibly have. No one comes close. We had 250 people at our wedding and at one point I counted 20 people not on the dance floor. We hired Flipside for our daughter’s wedding a couple of weeks ago on Cape Cod. The experience was superb from beginning to end. Both Emma, my daughter, and I found Corin to be very responsive, helpful, and musically broadminded. While my husband and I are huge fans of the Motown and seventies R&B music found on much of Flipside’s playlist., Emma and her fiancé have definite musical tastes that range from James Brown to Neil Young, REM, Lil Wayne, and alternative indie rock, and they also were thrilled with the tunes that Corin and the band crafted seamlessly into their sets. Our guests filled the dance floor from the very beginning and didn’t stop until the final song. Actually, they didn’t stop dancing then, so we had the band play for another hour. The instrumentals and vocals were perfectly matched, and the band members were both friendly and very professional. We highly recommend Flipside.
