Boston party band Flipside was the band of choice for the wedding of iconic General Electric CEO Jack Welch and wife Suzy Wetlaufer.
“‘Today’s Matt Lauer and wife Annette Roque attend the wedding of ex-GE chair Jack Welch and Suzy Wetlaufer in Beacon Hill Saturday.
As for Jack and Suzy’s Saturday wedding reception back at their Beacon Hill manse – attended by corporate titans like InterActiveCorp’s Barry Diller, boldfaces like Today host Matt Lauer, close friends and family – it’s winning rave reviews as the best dance party in town!
“The poor caterers couldn’t even get people to sit down and eat their lunch because everyone was on the dance floor,” said Someone Who Was There. “Matt Lauer, John McLaughlin (of the McLaughlin Group), just everyone. And it was an afternoon affair.”
Sounds like Flipside suited the corporate suits. But what a nightmare for chef Michael Schlow’s cooking corps! Also making beautiful music in the ballroom, which was ablaze with magenta, salmon, lilac and marigold-colored blooms from Winston Flowers, were some of the “Jacques Brel” cast members who Suzy hired as a surprise for her hubby.
Other than the corporate heavies with happy feet, the nups’ after-party sounded rather traditional with the usual round of toasts, cake-cutting and first dance to “You Are Everything” by the Stylistics.
