Congratulations Biogen Idec!

On April 5th, Murray Hill Talent’s Scott Arrington provided music for a momentous occasion in the fight against multiple sclerosis.  Biotech manufacturer Biogen Idec has, for several years, been working on a revolutionary new drug called Tecfidera.  The drug comes in a capsule form and is administered orally, a step up from its predecessors which must be injected.  Biogen Idec says the drug will aim to control multiple sclerosis in adults with hard to treat forms of the disease.  The Food And Drug Administration approved Tecfidera on March 27th, prompting a celebration at Fenway Park aptly titled “Opening Day For Tecfidera!”

More than 2000 people flooded the concourse below the center field bleachers to enjoy activities and ballpark concessions.  DJ Scott spun an upbeat and eclectic soundtrack while guests took pictures with Wally and tested their pitching speed against a major league radar gun.  It was a perfect early spring day at the park and the mood was bright and sunny, all the attendees brimming with pride.

The employees gathered behind the Red Sox dugout to hear from their CEO and watch a video on the jumbo screen, documenting their six long years of hard work developing Tecfidera.

“I sat in the bleachers and watched”, Scott said.  “The people were cheering.  It was obviously a big accomplishment and a huge step toward helping people manage a terrible disease.  I was grateful to be there and be part of it.”

Murray Hill Talent is fortunate enough to have partnered with The Castle Group on this and other corporate events at Fenway Park.  It is a great relationship that we look forward to cultivating further.

Our favorite Mariachi band was hired to bust into the room and interrupt a speech during a panel discussion at a large scale video gaming conference (PAX) at the Boston Convention and Expo Center last week.   This well served prank was administered by the good folks over at Harmonix (Harmonix is a local Cambridge based company and creator of popular video games Rock-Band, Guitar Hero and Dance Central ).  Also included in the nights prank menu was a marching dixieland band and bagpiper !

Some Night, while checking out bands,  you may see his photo on some on some other band’s website, but he’s not in that band- kind of a Shifty thing to do. Sometimes things you see on the internet are not true- like videos that look like a Lifetime Channel movie with the singers  not using microphones and with no cables coming out of the guitars. Those are lip-synched to audio tracks that have been tweaked to perfection in a recording studio- and then the singers pose and move their lips in time with the track- not the same as what you’ll hear if you hire the band to play live at your event. Our video are live from real performances with live audio.
