Private Event DJ Information

We represent an elite team of experienced, confident, upbeat and flexible disc jockeys able to suit your corporate function, fundraiser, holiday party, summer soiree, grand opening, gala or private party. Our understated modern style keeps the party energized pitch while avoiding typical cliche type props, costumes and excessive commentary. We value your input when it comes to musical requests, and we strictly adhere to “Play” and “Do Not Play” lists. We use state of the art laptop systems, and carry sufficient backup equipment to every event. Our ever-expanding music library is one of the largest and most diverse in the industry and ensures that we will have all the music you and your guests want to hear, no matter the era or style.

Selections

Our Disc Jockeys have tens of thousands of song titles to choose from (and growing everyday). Whether it’s Top 40, Disco, Big Band Swing, Oldies, Rock, Motown, R&B, Reggae, Classical, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Country, Ethnic, Electronic, or beyond, we have enough musical variety at our disposal to make everyone happy. Regardless how much thought and planning go into an event, no one can predict how guests will react to certain songs. Our experienced DJs know how to read the room and make the best possible song selections to take your party where you want it to go. Guests are usually welcome to make requests unless you specify otherwise. Events can be customized to suit specific styles and song selections, and Murray Hill Talent will be happy to purchase or supply any specific songs you may need for your event. Clients are always welcome to supply music in good condition from their own collections for our DJs to play. All of our DJs will provide continuous, uninterrupted music throughout your entire event.

Event Planning

Perfect events don’t happen by accident; they happen with thorough, proper planning and communication. For most engagements, a phone consultation a few weeks prior to your event to go over event flow, music styles, formalities and announcements should suffice. Our full time staff ensures that we are always accessible and available to speak with you when its convenient to you.

Equipment

Our disc jockeys show up to every event with state of the art, pro-audio equipment suited for the size of the room and the number of guests. Most of our DJs use laptop systems with 7-10,000 songs. (High sample rate MP3 and Wave Files.). Club style turntable and CD systems are also available. Many of our DJs’ have wireless capabilities so they can download songs at the event if necessary. Our DJs are experts at monitoring the room for appropriate sounds levels, therefore uncomfortable volume levels will never be an issue.

Remote Location Set-ups

For events taking place at multiple locations within one venue (such as remote cocktail receptions) we can provide wireless speaker systems, portable music systems, PA systems and battery powered equipment if needed (for remote areas such as beaches and other outdoor settings).

Projectors & Screens

Our DJs can also provide projectors and full sized screens for clients who wish to present a slide show, DVD video or powerpoint presentation through their laptop at the event.

Lighting Packages

Properly placed effect lighting can make a dance floor appear more inviting and will help create an excitement that might not have existed otherwise. Our lighting packages vary in regards to atmosphere, style, color scheme, placement, and extensiveness of lighting. Properly used and placed lighting can make a great contribution to the mood of an event. We have found that nothing gets guests into the party mood more than when the dinner portion of an event is over and the house lights are dimmed down a bit.

Song Editing & Production

Clients can take advantage of our full production studio to help produce custom song edits, voice over work, effect music and even custom written music. Hourly rates generally apply to this type of work.

Dancers & Party Motivators

Bring the excitement and movement of live dance to your next private party.  Our dancers can teach basic dance moves, motivate the guests and/or perform floor shows.  Adding dancers to existing entertainment packages is a great way to enhance audience involvement and fun to many events. Think your group needs a little encouragement to get on the dance floor?  Consider a party motivator!  These experienced individuals can make sure all your guests are included and engaged throughout the course of your event.  They can break the ice on the dance floor and keep the energy at peak level from start to finish!

Disc Jockey Requirements

Over the years, our company has developed close working relationships with most major function venues throughout the Northeast. This enables our company to stay current with information regarding set-up areas, load-in procedures and directions to your venue. For events taking place at private residences, at least one six-foot skirted table set up adjacent to the dancing area, and within 25 feet of a dedicated electrical outlet at least one hour prior to start time is required. Since disc jockeys will be performing for multiple hours and they will not be able to travel off-site, it is customary for clients to provide the DJ with a hot, balanced meal.

DJ Arrival & Dress Code

Disc Jockeys will arrive at the event site approximately one hour prior to the designated start time of your event. An additional charge may apply for events requiring early set ups or extraordinary circumstances. Our dress requirement for all functions is generally a dark suit and tie unless requested otherwise. Other forms of dress may include: Tuxedo, Business Casual, Beach Attire, etc. Please let us know your dress preferences prior to your event.

Overtime & Travel

DJs are available for overtime based on half hour increments. For events taking place in the evening, overtime is almost always available. For events taking place in the day, it is possible your disc jockeys may have other obligations after your event and will not be flexible with overtime. You should always find out the possibility of your DJ performing overtime before reserving them. Regarding travel, events taking place more than one hour from the Boston Metro area may incur additional travel charges.

Back Up Plans

All of our Disc Jockeys have AAA service, and bring backup gear to every event. If your Disc Jockey is unable to perform due to an emergency situation, Murray Hill Talent guarantees your event will go perfectly as planned. We have backup disc jockeys and equipment available 24 hours a day, as well as an emergency hotline so that we may be contacted around the clock in order to provide assistance to clients and artists for events in progress.
